BOBST reorganises UK & Ireland sales operation

Planned changes align with continued industry consolidation and the retirement of two industry veterans.

The UK and Ireland sales operation of BOBST Business Unit Sheet-fed has been reorganised to better reflect the current structure of the industry and to ensure uninterrupted service to BOBST customers following the retirements of Paul Walters and John Ardern. Together, Paul and John had been with the company for over sixty years.

Craig Moran, BOBST zone business director for the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, said, “For some time we’ve been laying down plans for the retirements of John and Paul. They’ve both been highly valued members of a team that has become well respected by our customers for its open and honest approach. Their boots have been big ones to fill. To ensure there is a smooth transition, we’ve brought in new talent and re-arranged responsibilities in line with how the industry is now structured, both in terms of ownership and geography.”

Stuart Alvey-Taylor becomes sales manager for folding carton and corrugated sales in Ireland, along with responsibility for corrugated sales in southern England and Wales. Stuart has worked for BOBST for the last twenty-two years and has an extensive background in BOBST corrugated equipment, in particular with FFG and rotary die-cut equipment.

New hire Craig McGowan, who joins BOBST from Cambridge-based CAD services company A4Plus, takes over Stuart’s folding carton brief in Wales and southern England. Craig brings a solid engineering background to the role, which sees him responsible for the sale of carton die-cutters, hot-foil stampers and carton gluers in the area.

Lee Alton and Nick Geary remain area sales managers covering the north of England and Scotland, responsible for folding carton and corrugated equipment respectively.

Craig Moran said, “We have a great team based in Redditch. What’s important to us is that our customers continue to get the expert advice, assistance and support they expect from us.”
