CHOCOLATE PACKAGING IS REDUCED

UK: British chocolatier Thorntons is continuing its work to minimise the environmental impact of its products and has reported packaging reduction figures for the second year running, with a 14 percent reduction for its core Easter 2010 range equating to over 48 tons of packaging waste saved.

This time last year Thorntons announced a 22 percent reduction across its core Easter product range, so combined with this year’s savings Thorntons has reduced its Easter packaging by an impressive 36 percent over just two years. Thorntons has implemented a three-step initiative which looks at significantly reducing its packaging costs and weights, sourcing sustainable materials, particularly using FSC certified carton-board, and enhancing its recycling labelling on pack.
