Essentra awarded silver position by top sustainability ratings agency, EcoVadis

Essentra has been awarded a silver rating from EcoVadis, one of the industry’s top supply chain ratings agencies. EcoVadis was the first collaborative platform to provide sustainability ratings and performance improvement tools for global supply chains.

Essentra has been ranked in the top 23 per cent of suppliers assessed by EcoVadis in the category ‘Manufacture of other articles of paper and paperboard’. Essentra is also in the top 15 per cent of suppliers assessed by EcoVadis in all categories. The rating recognises the company’s commitment to progressing its sustainability efforts through initiatives that include creating packaging designed for easy recyclability, and investing to expand on its waste management and reduction processes.

Essentra has also advanced its learning and development programmes with an increased commitment to training employees on health and safety and best working practices – consistent with the company’s principles.

EcoVadis, founded in 2007, was designed to evaluate the sustainability policies, actions and reporting of suppliers across 95 countries. Suppliers are assessed in the categories of environmental issues, labour practices and human rights, fair business practice and sustainable procurement issues.

Tiffany Overstreet, category management director, Essentra, said, “We are delighted to have improved our score to silver in the EcoVadis benchmark. Essentra’s rating highlights our ongoing commitment to providing socially responsible packaging solutions, and is an important step for us as we continue to evolve and expand our social responsibility efforts.”
