KAMA’s ‘successful’ DRUPA includes launch of world’s first folder-gluer for short-run folding cartons

DRUPA 2016 was a complete success for KAMA, who presented efficient short-run finishing solutions under the slogan “speed-to-market”.  According to KAMA, the first series of the new FlexFold 52i, the world’s first folder-gluer for short runs, is already sold out.  At DRUPA KAMA presented the folder-gluer for the first time as a serial model, which owing to its almost fully automatic set-up, demonstrated a changeover to the next run of straight-line boxes in an impressive 5 minutes – a world record.

According to the needs of the customer the cutting-edge technology folder-gluer comes with different inspection systems for various criteria, right through to a full 100% inspection specifically relevant to the pharmaceuticals market.

KAMA CEO Marcus Tralau says: “Together with the DC 76 ASB die-cutting and stamping machine, which due to its incorporated AutoRegister system is able to finish digitally printed sheets with tenth-of-a-millimetre precision, we cover the entire post-printing folding carton production workflow.  Fast changeovers – which thanks to the FlexFold 52i are also now available for folding and gluing – are the key to profitable short runs.”

More output and efficiency

KAMA showed the ‘Generation S’ version of the tried and tested ProCut 76 Foil die-cutting and finishing machine. This machine features ultra-modern servo technology and new hot foil stamping systems with friction rewinder and 50% more output.   Operator-friendly features, including a servo-driven feeder and a second, fully functional touch panel on the machine’s delivery side, make changeovers on the KAMA finishing die-cutters even easier to use and faster. That means more profitability and efficiency for the professional die-cutting and finishing of short and medium runs.

Kohmann hails ‘BrailleStar’ as the “ideal” folder-gluer

kohmann-braillestar-folder-gluerOne of the highlights of Kohmann’s stand at this year’s DRUPA was the ‘BrailleStar’ folder-gluer.  Designed for the efficient converting of pharmaceutical cartons, the BrailleStar is hailed as the ideal folding box gluing machine for manufacturing folding boxes with Braille relief dots for small and medium sized production jobs.

Compact in size and robust in build quality, the BrailleStar is capable of a high production output owing to its belt speed of 150 m/min.  It is designed for multi-shift operation, with quick set-up times and easy format changes, and the inclusion of a maintenance-free drive ensures low maintenance costs.  Other features incorporated as standard include:

  • Feeder with vibration device
  • Infinitely adjustable distance between carton blanks
  • Pre-breaking crease 1+3 (ideal for crash-lock boxes)
  • Bottom disc gluing device
  • Electronic counter with digital display, including pre-set counter
  • Delivery with kick-out device
  • Drying and press section synchronised with machine speed – can be controlled separately
