Meech exhibits its latest offering to the plastics industry at K 2016

Meech International this week showcased its latest electro-static control technologies at the K Trade Fair the largest international exhibition for the plastics and rubber industry. Along with its popular range of anti-static bars, Meech displayed the recently launched Hyperion 971IPS-30, an extra-long range pulsed DC ionising bar, as well as the 994CG, a compact in-mould labelling (IML) generator and one of the most powerful of its kind.

“K represents an opportunity to highlight the role that Meech plays in a number of applications within the plastics sector, such as in-mould labelling (IML), winding and extrusion,” explained Ralph Simon, Area sales manager, Meech Elektrostatik SA. “By expanding further our technology offering, we are even better placed to tackle the numerous static control issues that are encountered in plastic applications.”

With significant growth forecast for the global IML market, the new 994CG appeals to businesses specialising in these type of applications. The generator features adjustable output voltage, reduces overall power consumption and has a small footprint, with dimensions of only 150 (L) x 45 (W) x 40 (H) mm, which allows easy installation. The generator’s features prove ideal especially for OEMs and end-users whose working environments include robot arms and that have traditionally worked with large remote generators with mains voltage supply. The 994CG system removes the need to root high voltage cables next to signal wires and low voltage cables. Fitting a 994CG at the end of a robot arm removes all the issues experienced when using remote static generation.

The Hyperion 971IPS-30 has an optimum operating distance of 450 to 1,200mm (1,500mm with air boost), suiting very long-range applications, such as large diameter rewinds and turret winders in the plastics sector, making it Meech’s most powerful ionising bar to date. As with the 15kV version, the 24V DC supply removes the need for high voltage wiring. The Hyperion BarMaster Remote Programmer can also be used to adjust the output voltage, frequency and balance of the bar, optimising it for any application.

Meech exhibited its complete range of Hyperion static control systems, comprising the popular 971IPS-15 and 929IPS anti-static bars, as well as the 924IPS, a compact, short-range pulsed DC ionising bar. The development and expansion of the Hyperion range has been due to Meech’s close collaboration with its customers in order to understand their needs and demands. The end result is a range of systems that provides class leading static elimination.

Meech’s range of contact and non-contact web cleaning technologies was also on display, including the CyClean, TakClean, VacClean and ShearClean. The CyClean, Meech’s popular non-contact web-cleaner, is particularly useful in the manufacture of plastic bags, as it proves ideal for removing waste particles, or chad, after the die cutting process. Capable of removing contamination to below one micron, the CyClean ensures cleanliness is maintained throughout the production process, which is of key importance in specific sectors such as food and medical.
