The Converter October 2016 digital issue is out now!

Converter October 2016Editor’s comment: “It’s been a month of some great industry-focussed events for the converting and printing industry. The RotoMetrics ‘Future of Print’ Open House took place at the end of September; I was there myself and heard each of the interesting talks about how the market can move forward. Sir Clive Woodward, the famous rugby coach, spoke about inspiring teams and bringing them together, in any industry, to work together more efficiently.

“Also, this year’s Labelexpo Americas exhibition was a big success, with a huge array of product launches creating a buzz around the next generation of label converting processes. Similarly, Dow Chemical Company received the Award for Sustainability at the Label Industry Global Awards.

“And talking of sustainability, some of the biggest companies across the industry are inventing new ways to reduce their consumption of key materials, like forest fibres for the production of carton and board products. Metsä Board’s forestry campaign is one key example. Elsewhere, carton and board producer, Iggesund, has been working with farmers local to its Cumbrian mill to source biomass fuel for a better energy supply.

“In the area of digital printing and finishing, changes to machinery technology mean that eye-catching metallic foil finishes can be achieved more quickly and easily than ever before. Read more on page 33.

“There’ll be more on this next year, too, as we are launching a new Digital Printing feature topic for our 2017 issues!”
