Following the success of its digital print offering, UNI Packaging has further increased its capacity by investing in a second HP Indigo 20000 digital press.

Providing a 30-inch (750mm) wide-web solution for flexible packaging and sleeves, the press is now operational at UNI Packaging’s digital facility in Périgny, France.

The company launched its branded digital print offering in 2012. The initial investment in an HP Indigo WS6600 Digital Press provided the ideal solution for short run, multiple product SKUs, as well as extended marketing and traceability activities through its variable data printing capabilities. In response to increased demand, together with the development of a longer-term investment strategy that creates added value for its customers, UNI Packaging purchased its first HP Indigo 20000 machine in 2014.

The addition of a second Indigo 20000 digital line reinforces the company’s market leading capabilities in digitally printed flexible packaging.

“Quality output and high-performance technology are critical factors that drive the success of our business and the value we bring to our customers,” said Franck Caresmel, group business development, UNI Packaging. “We are excited by the business opportunities that we are able to pursue with the HP Indigo 20000, and look forward to advancing our role in the flexible packaging digital revolution.”

The HP Indigo 20000 Digital press is capable of gravure-matching print in high definition up to seven colours (including white ink) on a wide range of substrates; these include: Film (PET, BOPP, BOPA, PE), shrink film (PETG, PVC, OPS), paper, aluminium and biodegradable materials, in thicknesses from 10 to 250 microns, the solution provides consistent quality and flexibility for diverse packaging jobs.

UNI Packaging is planning a third digital line to be installed later this year.
